As of 1st October 2019 all connections to mail.visav.net must be using an encrypted connection over TLS/SSL.

The connection details must be as follows:

SMTP using STARTTLS over port 587
IMAP using SSL/TLS over port 993
POP using SSL/TLS over port 995

To update this please follow the appropriate instructions below. We have included instructions for the most common email clients, but for any others you should be able to find help online on how to change their configuration:

iPhone/iPad

  1. From the home screen on your device tap Settings, and then Passwords & Accounts. (This may be called Mail, Contacts, Calendars on older versions of iOS)
  2. Then tap the email account under Accounts.
  3. Tap Account.
  4. Scroll down and tap SMTP under Outgoing Mail Server.
  5. Tap on your Primary SMTP server
  6. Ensure the Server Port is 587.
  7. Ensure Use SSL is turned on.
  8. Make sure that the Username is your email address, and the Password is your email password.
  9. Click Done in the top right hand corner.
  10. Then, tap Account at the top left to go back to the previous screen.
  11. Tap Advanced at the bottom of the screen.
  12. Scroll down to Incoming Settings, and ensure the Server Port is 993 (IMAP) or 995 (POP).
  13. Ensure Use SSL is turned on
  14. Tap the button on the top left to go back to the previous screen.
  15. Now tap Done to save the changes.

Microsoft Outlook 2016 for Windows

  1. Open Control Panel
  2. Search for "Mail" and then click "Mail (Microsoft Outlook 2016)".
  3. Click on Email Accounts...
  4. Double click on your email account
  5. Take note of whether your account is POP or IMAP in the Account Type setting as you will need this in a moment.
  6. Then click on More Settings...
  7. Click on the Advanced tab.
  8. Ensure the Incoming Server Port is 993 (IMAP) or 995 (POP). Use SSL/TLS.
  9. Ensure the Outgoing Server Port is 587. Use STARTTLS.
  10. Click OK, and then click Next to save your account settings.

Mac Mail

  1. In Mac Mail, go to Mail > Preferences...
  2. In the Accounts tab, make sure that the correct account is selected on the left hand side, and click on the option for Server Settings.
  3. Click the Accounts drop-down found under Outgoing Mail Server, and select Edit SMTP Server List...
  4. Under the Server Settings tab untick the box for Automatically detect and maintain account settings.
  5. Ensure that the Outgoing Port is set to 587 and the box for Use TLS/SSL is ticked.
  6. Ensure that the Incoming Port is set to 993 (IMAP) or 995 (POP) and the box for Use TLS/SSL is ticked.
  7. Click OK to close the SMTP window, then OK again to close Preferences.

We recommend restarting your application for the new settings to take effect.
